The Better Bottle with Big Bite Valve makes it easy to hydrate on the go. | What is BPA? Bisphenol-A is an ingredient used to make polycarbonate. In recent months, there has been increasing consumer demand for a bottle that is not made with Bisphenol-A (BPA), and CamelBak is proud to introduce BPA-free bottles with the same great properties customers have come to expect from polycarbonate: vibrant color, clarity, durability, dishwasher-safe, and with no residual taste. As of the end of April 2008, the entire CamelBak bottle line will be available in BPA-Free materials in North America. What are phthalates? Phthalates (pronounced thal-ates) are a component added to some plastics to make them soft and pliable. None of CamelBak's bottles have ever contained phthalates. What is the BPA-free Better Bottle made from? The CamelBak Better Bottle line is made from a new copolyester polymer called Tritan, made by Eastman. It offers the same great qualities that we have come to expect from polycarbonate bottles and is 100 percent BPA-Free. The Big Bite Valve is made of medical-grade silicone for long life and taste-free performance. About CamelBak CamelBak is the originator and world leader in hands-free hydration systems. The first CamelBak products proved to be very popular among mountain bikers and motocross riders, because it allowed them to drink without taking their hands off of the handlebars in technical terrain. The product began to cross over into other sports when scientific studies showed athletes drank more fluids and performed better when they wore a CamelBak. Since then, athletes from an ever-growing list of sports and activities use CamelBak hydration systems for their convenience and performance benefits. In addition to cycling, CamelBak has Hands-Free Hydration systems for hiking, running, snowboarding and skiing. CamelBak's state-of-the-art packs and hydration systems have benefited athletes, outdoorsmen, and soldiers around the world. While CamelBak has grown tremendously since the early days, one thing hasn't changed: CamelBak still believes in the performance advantage that proper hydration delivers for just about any activity. The privately-held company is headquartered in Petaluma, California.

Great for the gym November 23, 2008 Elizabeth M. Perez (Watsonville, CA United States) Good size water bottle. Fits all the machines at the gym. I like that when I'm working at a 10 Rate I can still quickly sip water. I hate having to fiddle with the water to drink. This bottle is very user friendly. Easy to clean. Has a nice handle. Not good for sharing.
It's as good as everyone says it is! November 23, 2008 Jesse Baynard I'd been searching for a good drink container for awhile. Here's the competition: 1) Paper cups with dome tops (wasteful and prone to popping off and causing a mess) 2) Comically large insulated mugs (they look bad, don't fit cup holders, and smell funny) 3) Other sport bottles (usually the grip contours and pop up valve cause them to become a little less sanitary then I like and they usually don't look as nice) 4) Refilling water bottles (a little less wasteful since they get reused before they get trashed, but try putting ice in one of these to refresh a drink) This bottle however: looks great, doesn't spill (there some minor pressure issues as it gets older), has nice cleaning path for the dishwasher, can be disassembled, isn't wasteful, is easy to add ice to (about two attached "moons" from a refrigerator ice maker), odder neutral, fits in your cup holders (one of the sizes will anyway), and now is BPA free. It doesn't get much better than this. About the pressure issue... If the top is flipped up and not being consumed while a large temperature change is happening (abandoned icy drink in warm room) then the increasing pressure inside the bottle can force the drink up the straw and eventually past the bite valve. Even if it does, it will not spill. The drink collects on a little lip and then gets channeled back to the intake valve eventually evening out the pressure and just surprising you with a couple of drips if you aren't paying attention. This is a rare occurrence and won't happen at all if you get used to putting the valve down for long periods.
Love it November 21, 2008 Susan (Rochester, NY) I use this every day for carrying fluid to drink at work (Tea etc.) I was worried that the bite valve would be gross after a bit, but seems to wash in the dishwasher just fine. It does not leak!!!! From a size perspective the .75L is more manageable, as the 1L is kinda big, but still good.
Why pay $15+ at a Brick and Mortar store? November 20, 2008 D. R. Gendreau Very nice bottle that can be bought at most sporting goods stores for 50% more. It encourages me to drink more water and is better for the environment than buying prepackaged plastic water bottles.
Well made and sturdy November 19, 2008 A. LANE (West Palm Beach, FL) I bought this for my wife who is concerned about the health implications of BPA, she got this and put it to use right away. This bottle has been to the gym, hit the floor at times and has been left in the hot car at times and not once has it leaked. I have seen other bottles just like it but probably not BPA free, so I guess the manufacturer can place a heavy price tag on it even though there are not many features to it.
