5 out of 5 stars Worth the price...   September 5, 2008

I love this high chair - my son is 6 months old and we have had this high chair for about a month (we also have the Fisher Price Booster seat that we used for a few months and now use at our nanny's house). This high chair is worth the money. It is very well made, was easy to put together (I did it myself in about 15 minutes) and the best part is that it is small...we can tuck it away in a corner when we have company over OR we just leave it out next to our other furniture as it isn't really an eye sore like some of the other big bulky high chairs out there. We have the cushions as well and I have thrown them in the washing machine which is such an easy way to keep this chair looking clean and new. I love that this high chair is at the same height as our dining table (and I would imagine most dining room tables out there) because we can pull it up next to us while we are eating and because the base has such a small footprint, he can be right next to us at the table...I just love everything about it and would absolutely recommend it. Very well made, small design, looks great, baby likes it...

5 out of 5 stars Great product   July 17, 2008

After living with the Svan for about a month now, I couldn't be any happier. It was really quite straight-forward to assemble with real quality parts and design. Straight-forward like Ikea but unlike Ikea very, very good quality. I read a review below complaining about having to retighten screws, I have not had to retighten any yet and personally I much prefer that to something that gets loose over time without any way of fixing it. It also provides plenty of adjustments to get it properly fit in the first place and then to adapt over time. The materials are first-class throughout (all wood - some of it solid hardwood and the rest quality laminate or plywood) as is the manufacture and IMO make the price very reasonable. When I drop that kind of money for something like that, the main thing is that I want to be satisfied that I got a real quality product and I definitely am.

As for function it's great. My 12-month old daughter is very secure in it. She loves having the foot rest although I've had to lower it a couple of times as she grows and tries to stand up on it. The belt and harness contraption are very effective (and prevent her from being able to stand up) and she is also very comfortable in it. I find the size of the table just right, big enough yet small enough that with the table in place she can be reasonably close to us as we feed her. The removable plastic table cover is very simple to wash and after a month of very messy meals the chair is in great shape and very clean.

Overall I am very happy and would recommend the Svan chair as an excellent product and a good value. If I was to do it again, I'm not sure I'd buy the pad for the chair, she seemed quite comfortable before the pad arrived.

BTW this is not a schill review, I'm writing this out of my genuine satisfaction with this product.

Dave

This was not a hard item to put together. The directions were very clear and precise. I love that this highchair grows with the child. It also looks very nice in our dining room/kitchen. It completely blends in with our decor.

5 out of 5 stars I love this chair   February 10, 2008

I debated for a long time over whether to go with the standard plastic high chair, or splurge for a Svan. Several things tipped me to the side of the Svan.

The main thing I like about this chair is that I don't have to throw it away after a year or so. My son can take this chair to college if he wants, as it adjusts in size and I think it can hold up to 175 pounds. I love this adjustability...in fact, we've already lowered the foot rest by an inch to make him more comfortable.

I also like the fact that it is quality wood furniture, and that it slides up to the table. I can imagine how nice it will be once my son is older to be able to let him work on art projects and homework at the table in his own chair that is sized for him, and we won't have to get him a booster seat or sit him on phone books!

The phthalate-free plastic tray cover is great, as it allows me to give him messy finger food (he's 11 months old now) and it's easy to clean. I also purchased the cushions which I wash every 2-3 weeks.

I purchased this chair when my son was 6 months old, and I found that it is not only a great place for him to eat, but it's also a great place for him to sit safely while I'm doing housework or making dinner. He can sit and play with his toys and still be able to see me and feel like he's part of the family.

Unlike the first reviewer, I don't have any trouble getting my squirmy little guy into the chair. I always put him in from the back, and even when he's hungry it doesn't take long to get him strapped in.

5 out of 5 stars great highchair   October 14, 2007

I disagree with the other reviewer. This is an awesome highchair. We bought it when my daughter was 6 months old. There is assembly required, but, almost every toy we buy requires assembly. I don't think it was any harder than any toy. One thing I love about the high chair is the size. It is compact, which is good not only for your living area, but, fits a small infant. I realized how great this was after visiting my sister and using a standard plastic chair. It swallowed her up and she barely could see over the tray. The Svan was so much better.

My daughter is now 2 and we never had any problems getting in and out of the chair. We converted it to a toddler chair when she got big enough to climb out. Now she sits at the table with us. The platform is also big enough for her to use the chair to stand up at the counters (she helps wash dishes for fun!)

We just had our second child and will be buying another Svan chair for him. It is pricer than other plastic chairs, but, you will be using it for years. I couldn't imagine any other highchair.
