GREAT baby gate November 2, 2008 Candice G (Sherman Oaks, CA) We love this gate and have three of them. It is beautiful. Super easy to install, no tools required, and very sturdy. Our son uses it to stand and then tries to shake the door and it hasn't moved. Did I mention that it is beautiful. Blends perfectly in our house, and doesn't stick out like we're living in a daycare. The doors automatically shut and lock. It would be nice if you could disengage the lock when you don't need it, but we have just solved that by not letting it close all the way when we walk through. Love this gate!
Nice Gate October 6, 2008 J. Bozarth I like the gate, very easy to install. After putting together umpteen differnt baby items, I have come to the conclusion that not all assembly instructions are created equal. These instructions were well written, and didn't read as if they were translated into english. The woodwork is nice on this unit. I have one problem, it says in the instructions that there are optional mounting cups that can be ordered on the vendor's website. I really wish they would have just included these. It couldn't be more than a 50 cent item. I need them for my installation for our particular door opening. I can't find them on thier website. I'm going to have to call them. Again, we are pleased with the function and appearance of this door.
Beautiful gate, difficult install August 9, 2008 Juli's Mommy (San Antonio, TX) This gate is beautiful, but the install was a bit difficult. Just finding the right distances between the right side and left side. Overall, the gate works wonderfully and is a great barrier for our daughter.
Might be better off with a hardware-mounted gate August 5, 2008 moira I got this nice-looking gate to use in our living room where we have very pretty wood that I didn't want to drill and where a white pressure-mounted gate would look strange. The first one I received was a little warped so if the bolts were tight enough to keep the gate secure, it was impossible to open. Customer service was very nice and replaced it with a working unit without much fuss. But ultimately I think we have more dings on the wooden door frame from this thing getting knocked out of place and having to be pushed back than I would have had with some nice, neat screw holes and a hardware-mounted wood gate. Part of the problem may be that the space is just wide enough for the rubber pads -- it might be less problematic with a little more wiggle room for the mounting pads.
Good gate July 10, 2008 R. B. Grant (Texas) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I just put this gate up today. So far, it seems great. I like how it automatically closes after you open it. It seems very secure, both of my boys (2 and 1) have already tried to pull it down and haven't been able to. Our previous gate was a plain cheap tension gate that they could climb on and pull down, and that you had to take down and put back up in order to go through the doorway, unless you wanted to step over it. Of which, I stubbed my toes so many times climbing over, that a walk through gate is a God send. This gate came with an extension kit, so you don't have to purchase one seperately. Which, I am sure I will need when we move and have wider doorways. As of right now, our doorway is 32 inches, so I am one inch off from using the extension kit. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5, is because the tension rods on the outside at this size of doorway seem to make rather big gaps on either side of the gate. Even though it is still functional and secure, I am sure that one of the boys is going to try to fit through it at some point and time and get a leg stuck. It is only about a 2 3/4 gap from the gate itself to the doorway, but boys will be boys, lol! Despite the gap, this gate seems great. I will probably get the metal and wood one for the bottom of my stairs.
