Works great as a pet gate December 24, 2008 Deborah (Miami, Florida) The gate is great. I purchased this one to replace my last one of the same model when my new puppy stuck his head through it and I had to break it apart to get him out (not the fault of the gate - I'd forgotten how mischievous new puppies are. I had the other gate for 6 years with an adult dog and have never had a problem). The only problem with the order is that it came in a box that clearly had been re-sealed, and was missing the hardware needed to mount it. It was easier to go to the hardware store and purchase new hardware than to deal with returning the whole gate to Amazon. It was disappointing that something that important had not been checked before it was shipped out, but that was the fault of the shipper, not the manufacturer or product.
sturdy gate, depending on what you use it for November 29, 2008 Adam Yates (Acton, California United States) This is a great gate, especially considering its price. It's not idiot proof, however: if you use it as a baby safety gate, just be careful when you close it-it has the potential to pinch fingers. Also, if used as a dog gate, the enterprising dog can chew through it, if he has a mind to. However, that said, I've had several of these gates over the years, and the chewing problem happened only once, and even then, the gate was repairable, using glue and tape. Considering the price of many of the other gates, this one is well worth the money.
easy to install September 9, 2008 M. Roll It was a challenge to find a gate large enough for my kitchen. This was very easy to install. For purpose it may have been better to purchase a plastic or metal gate. I purchased this gate for my puppy, she has started to chew the bottom of it and I am a little concerned about its durability. Overall not bad for the price, but maybe not the best choice for a pet gate.
