Amazon.com Product Description
Your child can learn how to play the guitar -- and have fun doing it -- with the Fisher Price I Can Play Guitar System. Designed for children ages six and older, the guitar plugs directly into your TV and teaches your child to play with fun and exciting video game tutorials.

Makes Music Lessons Fun!
Fisher Price's special Music Wizard method uses color codes to teach such skills as strumming, chords, and finding notes on the fret board, as well as basic rhythm and timing skills, all while learning to play fun songs.

Guitar plugs directly into your TV and comes with its own game cartridges.

The guitar is perfectly sized for little hands, and comes with a set of stickers.
In the video game tutorials, your child moves through each entertaining lesson, earns points for completing them, and is rewarded with neat accessories for his or her game character. Once your child masters a level, he or she moves onto more challenging games, learning and improving -- and having fun at the same time. You will never hear complaints about practicing! And what's best, the skills your child will learn transfer easily to learning how to play a "real" guitar.

Perfect for Little Hands
The guitar is perfectly sized for little hands, and your child will enjoy customizing the guitar with the included set of cool stickers. No computer is necessary; the guitar plugs directly into your TV and comes with its own game cartridges. Simply insert the cartridge, plug in the guitar, and your child is ready to play... and learn! The guitar comes with a game cartridge that features eight familiar family songs; additional game cartridges, featuring your child's favorite characters such as SpongeBob and Barbie, can be purchased separately. Four C batteries are required.

What's in the Box
Guitar, strap, pick, 1 song and game cartridge, sticker packs, and plug and play cords.

5 out of 5 stars The best [...] I spent for Christmas!   January 6, 2009
Wendy K. Smith (Raleigh, NC)
I bought this guitar for my 7 year old son who loves any kind of music, and not only has he enjoyed it, but my 10 year old son too! The guitar has a very realistic electric guitar sound when on "guitar" mode, or you can move the switch to "tv" mode, plug it into the tv and learn how to play. It's a great toy to have and your child will have fun while learning how to play an instrument. I was so happy to have found this on Amazon!

P.S. We actually purchased Guitar Hero World Tour for Christmas for our older two boys, and this has been a perfect tool to enhance the musical experience for all three of them. Guitar Hero is fun, but I love how this guitar actually teaches chords and strumming as well as the fun tunes you can play.

2 out of 5 stars Had high expectations but was disappointed   December 27, 2008
L. Ludwig (United States)
My son was 5 when we gave him this present. It is a difficult toy, I would recommend more for the 10+ age group. However the most disappointing aspect was that it only lasted two months. My son takes care of his toys, so it wasn't due to 'abuse'. I am glad I only paid $25 here on Amazon.

5 out of 5 stars Perfect for a little one   November 30, 2008

I bought this for my 7 year old son at a local retailer on clearance. I was very wary at first because of the deeply discounted price. However, my son has learned so much and mastered the first cartridge. I am now looking to buy more.

I did buy a guitar hero for Christmas in 2006 and traded it in at a local retailer after a day of loud hard rock that I felt was not suitable for my then 6 year old. I am not personally opposed to the hard rock music but for a little one playing I didn't feel GH was appropriate for him yet. This one is definitely more age appropriate.

My son was frustrated at first but quickly caught on. The system asks you if you want to go slower or faster to help the little learning hands set their own learning and playing pace.

I would definitely recommend this guitar. I do suggest that parents offer assistance and sit close by the first few rounds to ensure their child understands how to speed up or slow down the game. It is the parents responsibility to help match the level of the game to fit each child's individual learning needs.

4 out of 5 stars He loves it   November 25, 2008

I bought this for my 4 year old grandson. He loves it, because it's like Daddy's guitar hero. He can play it now, and according to my daughter, it will challenge him for quite some time. I'm very happy with this purchase.

5 out of 5 stars Really educational guitar   October 12, 2008

My 9 year old son did not have the patience to watch and learn the notes. It could have been a great learning tool, but it was too much for him. Guitar Hero is more his skill level. He still loves it, just don't expect your child to become a virtuoso - he just enjoys banging around on it. It has held up very well.
